A Typical Tournament Week

First, I have to start by saying that I am LIVING MY DREAM! I had always dreamt of playing professional golf and competing against the best female golfers in the world, traveling to great golf courses and playing in front of amazing golf fans. Professional golf has surpassed every possible expectation I had as a young girl growing up. It truly is amazing that I have the best job in the world!!

I really am doing what I love and I get to experience so many other great things as part of being a professional golfer. I travel all over the world and get to see some wonderful places. My friends and family come out to almost every event and their support is incredible and invaluable. I have also made some great friends along the way.

The first event of the year is in Hawaii! Aloha! It certainly is a special place to start the 2008 LPGA season. I love Hawaii, the sunsets, the beach and the fans. But, the course is tough and the conditions are windy. It can be very challenging.

A typical tournament week for me is as follows:

MONDAY: Travel and Business day.

I always travel on Mondays. I relax workout, catch up on personal phone calls and business calls. If I have the chance, I try to go to a movie or the spa to relax a bit and unwind so I can be energized for the week ahead.

TUESDAY: 5am Wake-Up, Workout and Head to the Course for a Practice Round.

I usually practice before and after the round and stay on the course until 1pm or 2pm. There is usually media and a press conference for an hour on Tuesday and any sponsor meet-and-greets or photo shoots would be scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Every week on tour we have a fancy sponsor and VIP dinner. I attend almost every dinner to meet and thank the sponsors and staff who make the events so great. I am in bed at 9pm.

WEDNESDAY: Up Early Again!.

Depending on my Pro-Am time, I workout before or after. If I have a 9am Pro-Am, I get in a 90 min workout and then head to the course. After the Pro-Am I practice and tune up any part of my game that needs some work. Wednesday night is a quiet night. It's usually a very low key dinner or I order room service. I am part of the fellowship on tour and we often meet Wednesday evening for an hour which is a highlight of my week!

I always prepare my adidas clothes the night before which tends to be a process. I need to have everything set from matching socks and shoes to clothes, accessories, ribbons and hat. I pack my snacks for the tournament and go over my course notes. For four years I have made my caddy, Greg, a PB&J sandwich for every single tournament round! This is my superstitious routine! And it's great because he loves them. I am usually in bed at 9 and prepared for the event to start!
